Miyazakigyu is the best brand of Japanese Wagyu, known for its quality and consistency. Produced from Japanese black cattle and bred in Miyazaki Prefecture, Miyazakigyu has become known for its snowflake-like mottles. To qualify as Miyazakigyu, the cattle must be born and raised in Miyazaki Prefecture and rated A4 and above. Miyazakigyu won the "Wagyu Olympics" in 2007 and 2012, which is the first time in the tournament's history that a brand has been able to win back-to-back awards. They also won the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence for the third consecutive time, which is also the first time in the tournament's history that a brand has won 3 consecutive awards.

What is it?
The term wagyu refers to several Japanese cattle breeds. It stems from the juxtaposition of two words: wa, “Japan,” and gyū, “beef.” These breeds originated in Japan, where they split into several genetic lines (red and black) due to the terrain and the impossibility of making cattle travel within a feudal country that was often at war. They were originally bred for their power and strength in agricultural work. Today, the animals are intensively fattened to develop muscle mass.
