Canadian snow crab legs, average weight of 225g (8oz), frozen.
What is it?
Chionoecetes opilio is a species of crab in the Oregoniidae family. It is part of the "snow crab" genus. This species is the most abundant, but also the most fished.
This large cold-water crab is found in the North Pacific, from Alaska to the Kuril Islands and Kamchatka, as well as in the Northwest Atlantic (Newfoundland, St. Pierre and Miquelon, Nova Scotia, Quebec, etc.). Canada is the world’s largest harvester of snow crabs, accounting for two thirds of the world’s supply.
